The Sikorsky S61-N is a 58ft twin turboshaft commercial helicopter. Hugely successful world wide it still delivers outstanding performance having had many impressive modifications since 1962. From engine up-grades through to the latest in composite blade options many modern rivals struggle to compare to the capability of this well proven and sizable helicopter. Max take-off weight is 8,620 Kg, cruise speed 120kts, range 833 Km. Engines are 2 x General Electric CT58-140 turboshafts, 1500 shp each.
Simulator Features
The simulator was manufactured by Redifon in 1975. The host computer is an R2000a with 'Cat A' Linkage. The visual system is a state of the art Rockwell Collins EP-1000 IG / LCOS projector 2 Window Day / Dusk / Dawn / Night system. Generic & specific airports are available, visual terrain is world wide satellite imagery with moving sea-state, oil rigs, ships and other air traffic. The motion is a full 6 axis hydraulic powered platform constructed by Redifon. The control loading contains the real Sikorsky Aux Hyd Pack giving true collective, cyclic and yaw feel.
